ELKHART, Ind. -- Around 8:40 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, Elkhart County deputies responded to a collision involving an 8-year-old boy riding a bicycle and a passenger vehicle.

Authorities say the boy failed to yield going east at the intersection of Warren Street and Shore Avenue. 

The boy then collided with a 2016 Kia passenger car, driven by a 60-year-old man.

The report states the 60-year-old had the right of way while traveling north on Shore Avenue. 

The boy suffered abrasions on his hip and swelling to his arm. He was taken to Elkhart General Hospital.
